Considering a romantic getaway this May or June? Spring is an incredible time to visit the White Lake area with your spouse or partner.
Whether you’re an active couple who loves outdoor recreation or a more relaxed pair who’d enjoy a getaway of casual dining, shopping, and long walks on the beach, you’re bound to find something in our area. The natural, easygoing simplicity of White Lake and the surrounding communities is perfect for couples who want to get away from it all for a few days and enjoy each other’s company.
Plus, unlike some other “getaway experiences” in the Mitten, we’ve also got Lake Michigan. And she always boasts fun things to do.
But if you need more convincing, no problem (we love talking up our home!).
Here are six reasons to make White Lake your vacation destination this spring!
-
Beautiful weather without the summer rush.
School’s still in session, or just ending, in places like Lansing and Jackson, which means that most families haven’t made their summer plans yet. And even in those few weeks in June after school does get out, summer travelers usually don’t book immediately either.
This leaves several weeks of gorgeous northern Michigan weather free for the taking. You and your partner can make a clear getaway without the traffic, and here in White Lake, it’s also much calmer.
Around this time of year, we typically see weather in the 50s and 60s with a cool breeze off Lake Michigan. It’s the perfect time to come up north and see us from Grand Rapids, Flint, or wherever you call home.
-
Seasonal openings.
Local attractions, museums, and many shops and restaurants are closed during the winter months. But come spring, they open their doors for business.
Without the throngs of summer visitors, this means you have first access to all of these attractions, shops, and restaurants and can benefit from no lines and sometimes, even great spring deals.

In a place full of fruit trees, the blossoms are blooming.
West Michigan is widely known as one of the largest producers of cherries and apples in the Midwest. And what do these fruit-producing trees have in common? Gorgeous flowers. When they’re all in bloom (now!), it’s like a sea of pink or white — a must-see!
-
The beach.
Need we say more? Lake Michigan in the spring is often pretty rough (and way too cold for swimming), but it sure is beautiful. Enjoy it for a beach walk, charter a local fishing boat, or take in a sunset over its lovely waters.
