With the first day of fall fast approaching (September 22!), we wanted to start outlining the many fun events going on in our area this autumn!
September is a great month to visit Northern Michigan – especially the White Lake area. With school back on, tourism’s slowed down; traffic’s improved from places like Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, and Holland; lines are definitely shorter in town and the weather just keeps getting better.
At the beach, it’s definitely more comfortable than the hottest months of summer, and yet it’s still warm enough for a cozy bonfire or a pleasant walk enjoying the sunset.
In terms of fun activities and events, here’s what we have going on this month:
Don’t Miss These September Events in White Lake!
“Summer Ain’t Over Yet” Concert Series
Tuesdays, September 12th & September 19th, 6:30pm – 8pm
Come to the gazebo in Goodrich Park in Montague to enjoy our local “Summer Ain’t Over Yet” concert series.
Put on by HarborLight Credit Union, the September 12th concert will feature the Bearded Ladies Men, and the September 19th concert will feature Buddy Popps as a fundraiser for the White Lake Food Pantry.
Bring a blanket or chairs plus snacks, and enjoy the music!
Montague Farmers Market
Every Wednesday in September, Every Saturday in September, 9am – 1pm
There’s nothing quite like a farmers market in the fall. Come stock up on fresh fruits and veggies, and leave with a few extra goodies from local bakers, farmers, and artisans.
The farmers market is located at the corner of Water and Church Street in Montague.
Trivia Night @ The Book Nook and Java Shop
Mondays, September 11th & September 25th, 6 – 8pm
Come to The Book Nook and Java Shop to test your intellect with a fun night of trivia! Drinks are available at the Book Nook (just a few minutes’ walk from our lakeside inn), and you can all ahead to place food orders — (231) 894-5333.
Vinyl Night @ Fetch Brewing
Wednesdays, September 13th & September 27th, 7pm – 10pm
Fetch Brewing is taking it back to the good ‘ol days of vinyl. Bring your own records to play while you enjoy a pint of Fetch’s locally made brew, or just come to enjoy the eclectic collections of others!
Lewis Farm Market & Petting Farm Weekend Festivals
Lewis Farm Market & Petting Farm of New Era (just 15 minutes from The Weathervane Inn) has numerous weekend festivals planned this month. Come to get lost in the famous 6-acre Corn Maze, pick your own pumpkins from the Pumpkin Patch, and meet the lovely Lewis Farm family of farm and exotic animals!

Michigan Irish Festival
September 14th – 17th
Whether you have Irish heritage or not, you’re welcome to enjoy Michigan’s own Irish Music Festival!
Located on Heritage Landing in downtown Muskegon (just 20 minutes from our lakefront hotel!), this 4-day festival is full of fun for the whole family. You’ll find live Irish music and dancing, “lessons in speaking Gaelic,” artisans selling their wares, games for the kids, and plenty of true Irish beer!
1st Annual Golftoberfest
Friday, September 22nd, 11am – 6pm
Participate in the first ever “Golftoberfest” golf outing at the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex! You’ll have a great day of golf and receive a few beer tasting mug and complimentary ticket to the Muskegon Oktoberfest (October 5th-6th).
Arts and Craft Beer @ Pigeon Hill Brewery
Tuesday, September 26th, 6pm – 8pm
Make your own art and enjoy a beer at local favorite, Pigeon Hill Brewery. You’ll be creating your own string art piece with a piece of 120-year-old Mill Debris from Muskegon Lake. The total cost of $20 includes everything you’ll need plus a beer!
West Michigan Symphony Orchestra Presents: Ravel & Gershwin Piano Concertos @ The Frauenthal Theater
