There’s a particular morning every year when you can feel it before you see it. The air has a new edge to it. The light comes in lower and gentler through the windows. That’s the morning you begin to start pulling out the flannel throws, restocking the cider, and getting the rocking chairs ready for the chill to enter the air.
Fall has arrived at The Weathervane Inn, and honestly, it’s one of our favorite times of year to welcome guests.
Why Fall Feels Different Here
There’s something about this season that slows people down in the best way. Summer is for schedules and sunscreen and squeezing in one more activity before the light runs out. Fall is for lingering. For a second cup of coffee on the balcony overlooking the lake because the air is finally cool enough to enjoy it. For not checking your phone because the crackle of a fireplace is more interesting.
We have created a space around that feeling here at The Weathervane Inn. Every room has a spot to curl up. The in room fireplace gets lit the moment temperatures dip, and many guests sit by its warmth until spring. Breakfast available right outside your room. What more could you ask for? Go grab a plate in the morning and enjoy it with lake views.
A Story We Think You’ll Relate To
Last Fall, we had several guests who checked in one evening, alone, with a bag and a look we’ve come to recognize — the look of someone who badly needed a few days that belonged only to them. A place to relax and recharge.
Someone told us at check-in that they almost cancelled. Work had been relentless, their calendar had been booked full for months, and part of them felt like there “just wasn’t time” for a weekend away. But they came anyway, and by Friday morning, something had visibly loosened in their shoulders.
The weekend was spent doing almost nothing, on purpose. Reading on the balcony under a blanket while watching the sunset over the lake. Walking into town for the Saturday farmers market and bringing back with a jar of local honey and a bundle of dried flowers. Time spent hiking nearby trails and returning two hours later, cheeks pink from the chill in the air.
On their last morning, over the second pot of coffee, they told us this was the first weekend in over a year that the notifications on their inbox had been forgotten.
We hear some version of this story more than you’d think. Fall has a way of reminding people that rest isn’t something you earn, it’s something you need. If any part of this story sounds familiar, that might be your sign to come visit.
