9 Upcoming July Events in White Lake
1. July Fourth Events
Thursday, July 4th
Let freedom ring! There’s no better time to don your red, white, and blue than this 4th of July in Downtown Whitehall and Montague. All day, the area will be hosting family-friendly events to celebrate America’s Independence Day.
Fourth of July Parade @ 10am: Follow the annual Fourth of July parade from Whitehall City Hall, all the way across the bridge to Downtown Montague. This year’s parade, sponsored by Re/Max will feature over 100 floats, performers, and other participants.
Fourth of July Pig Roast @ 11am – 3pm: Directly following the parade, meet in Goodrich Park in Whitehall for a community pig roast, sponsored by the Montague-Whitehall Rotary. Come early as the event ends as soon as it’s sold out. Proceeds from the event benefit the White Lake Fireworks, Youth Education Scholarships, efforts to eradicate polio worldwide, and other local charities.
Fireworks @ Dusk: Finally, later in the evening, pick a comfy spot in Downtown Montague, Whitehall, or on White Lake to view the gorgeous booms and blasts of our annual firework display, also sponsored by the Montague-Whitehall Rotary.
2. The West Michigan Wine & Jazz Festival
Thursday, June 27th – Sunday, July 7th
Hosted by the Book Nook & Java Shop, The West Michigan Wine & Jazz Festival celebrates two of life’s greatest pleasures. Come to mix and mingle and enjoy great music from award-winning artists. See the festival schedule for dates and times. All concerts are held at Montague’s Book Nook & Java Shop, unless otherwise noted.
3. Lakeshore Arts Festival
Friday, July 5th – Saturday, July 6th
The annual Lakeshore Arts Festival celebrates the joy and beauty of handmade crafts of all sorts. See great works of art, and take home a few of your own!
Also at the event will be the Beer and Wine Garden in Hackley Park, plenty of delicious food vendors to taste and try, community art projects (a joint effort of Whitehall’s Nuveen Art Center and local schools), and the live painting of two kayaks, which will later be auctioned off at the end of the festival.
Live music, street performers, a sidewalk chalk contest (“Chalk the Walk”), and a student art showcase will also be featured at the festival. This year’s symbol is the Monarch butterfly. The presence of the butterfly is meant to raise awareness about the unfortunate decline in population of this important pollinating butterfly. It also represents the amazing transition and transformation that Downtown Muskegon is currently experiencing.
